The Wall of the Prefecture Hall

The city of Kastoria was gradually fortified and its fortifications had undergone several renovations. In the era of Justinian in the 6th century, it seems that special emphasis was put on the fortifications of the isthmus of the peninsula, which was also the most vulnerable point protected by tall towers. It is likely that there was a moat in front of the wall, which turned the peninsula into an island. Some of the remains of this fortification can be seen near the building of the Regional Unity of Kastoria.
