Virgin Mary of St. Anargiroi district

This Byzantine monument was built with cheap materials in a simple manner during the late 14th century. At this time, the city faces several economic problems, which do not allow luxuries to build monuments. The sensitivity of craftsmen expressed in the interior design, with an unquestionable quality. The church is primarily a small basilica, which expands in the 17th century, when the second mural is completed.

For the monument building and decoration phases we get information from two inscriptions found in the nave and narthex. The time of the second wall painting is 1635. The architecture is very humble and almost lost in the slope of the hill, but the repeated renovations in conjunction with that is similar to the mosque immediately make the difference.
